JUST IN: Allegations of Certificate Fraud Spark Outrage Over Lost Job Slots in Nasarawa

Fresh concerns have emerged in Nasarawa State over alleged misuse of indigene certificates by job seekers from other states, with residents warning that the trend is depriving genuine indigenes of employment opportunities.

A Nasarawa applicant, sharing his experience from a Nigeria Air Force DSS screening in Kaduna, said more than half of the candidates shortlisted under Nasarawa State were actually from other parts of the country. He recalled speaking with a finalist who confessed he was from Kano but used a Keffi LGA indigene form even though he had never been to Keffi. Another candidate, reportedly from Kaduna, allegedly used documents claiming origin from Wamba despite never visiting the area.

He contrasted this with Sokoto State, which he said deployed a full verification team to the screening venue. According to him, Sokoto officials scrutinised every candidate's documents and immediately confiscated papers from anyone found impersonating a native of the state.

The incident has intensified frustration among Nasarawa youths, many of whom believe weak verification systems allow outsiders to claim job quotas meant for them.

Residents are now urging the state government to adopt stronger verification procedures, warning that failure to do so will continue to leave Nasarawa youths at a disadvantage in competitive recruitment exercises.

“This is why people say there are no jobs,” the applicant lamented. “Others take our slots, and nobody checks. Our leaders need to act.”
