Ombugadu’s Political Somersault: A Shameful Display of Opportunism and Failed Calculation by: Abims Dan So

Image
I listened to the recent interview by David Emmanuel Ombugadu, whom I awarded the unenviable award of "The Fastest Political Defector in Nasarawa State’s History", and I must say that the interview was nothing short of an embarrassment. His claim for hurriedly returning to PDP just days after defecting to APC that the party closed its e-registration portal thereby excluding his supporters from being registered as APC members, is not only laughable, it is outright insulting to the intelligence of the public. This is excuse-making at its lowest and unreasonable level. Let’s be clear: politics is not a game for the impulsive or the confused. It is a serious arena that demands calculation, strategy, and foresight. Ombugadu’s back-and-forth movement is a glaring example of political recklessness and a complete absence of strategic thinking. No serious politician jumps ship without first securing his ground. No serious politician makes such a high-stakes move only to retreat in d...

The Future of Representation: Dr. Emmanuel Akolo and the Call for Youthful Leadership in Karu, Keffi, and Kokona Federal Constituency. *** Audu Esson Ambagaka - Keffi As the political landscape of Nasarawa State shifts toward a more inclusive and dynamic era, the spotlight has increasingly turned to Dr. Emmanuel Akolo, a leading aspirant for the Karu/Keffi/Kokona Federal Constituency. His candidacy represents more than just a political ambition; it is a manifestation of the "Not Too Young To Run" spirit, driven by the belief that the energy and innovative thinking of the youth are essential for solving the complex challenges of the 21st century. The primary appeal of Dr. Akolo lies in his youthful strength and intellectual depth. In a constituency that serves as a critical gateway to the Federal Capital Territory, the demands of representation require a leader with the physical stamina to engage with diverse grassroots communities and the mental agility to navigate high-sta...

IDOMA CAN BECOME GOVERNOR IN BENUE BUT NOT ON EMOTIONAL JINGOISM. ~Digital Aluta Ene

Image
The clamour and agitation from the Idoma people as to when they will also have the opportunity to preside over the affairs of Benue State is relevant and must be given proper attention. It is also in the interest of peace and stability when there is political equilibrium in a state because the sense of marginalisation that often gives rise to social unrest and unwanted internal crises will be crushed. Therefore, the Idoma people must never be allowed to become tools in the hands of those leaders described in the words of Hon. Ottah (2026) as an "omnishambolic fiasco squad." In an effort to convince the people, when they have nothing to use as a campaign strategy, they coined an imaginary enemy to stand in the gap of their underperformance, which is conspicuously glaring to the people. This pattern is not new to the Idoma people, but what is new is the model with which it has been gleefully packaged for public consumption. Frankly admitted, the Idoma can aspire to the highes...

OPINION: David Emmanuel Ombugadu And The Many Faces of Politics

Image
By Eric M Kuju Politics is unfair. Politics is dirty. Politics is immoral. Politics is brutal. And yet, politics is interesting. Nowhere is this paradox more vividly illustrated than in the recent political somersault of Hon. David Emmanuel Ombugadu, the twice-defeated but ever-resilient gubernatorial candidate of the People's Democratic Party (PDP) in Nasarawa State. Ombugadu has formally resigned from the PDP and has now formally joined the APC. For those who have followed Nasarawa politics closely, this may read as just another line in the long script of Nigerian political theatre. But for thousands of ordinary supporters, people who protested in the streets, who shed blood, who stripped themselves bare in acts of desperate solidarity after what they believed was a stolen mandate in 2023, this news lands like a thunderclap. I was in a gathering not long ago where PDP stakeholders in Lafia Local Government Area took turns to speak passionately about Ombugadu's 2027 candidatur...
